A Practical Dreamer

We are surrounded by materials whose stories began long before humanity. Stones formed under pressure. Metals forged in stars and concentrated by the Earth. Every piece of jewelry is simply the latest chapter in an unfathomably endless history.

On a journey to find myself, I found Portland, Oregon in 2012, and in 2026 I founded Pallas Fogg to continue my exploration of myself through creation —from rock to metal to jewelry—through contemporary design and a fascination with the minerals and metals that make up our world. For more than a decade, I have pursued a self-directed apprenticeship in metallurgy, jewelry and gemology. Through independent study, materials research, and extensive bench practice, I have developed a skill set and body of work centered on original precious metal alloys and handcrafted art.

I am fascinated by the geological forces that form gemstones, the chemistry that governs metals, and the transformation of raw materials into objects that become our everyday life. Curiosity has led me to develop several precious metal alloys whose natural colors are intended to be seen rather than hidden beneath surface coatings. I choose gemstones for their individuality—the subtle fingerprints of their formation, their inclusions, fluorescence, and uncommon colors—believing that these qualities reveal a deeper beauty than perfection alone.

My visual language is informed by the clarity of early modernism and Bauhaus ideals, where structure, proportion, and honest materials carry more meaning than ornament. I strive to create that which feels inevitable rather than decorative: objects that could exist no other way.

I embrace the philosophy of the Practical Dreamer. Imagination is most meaningful when it is tested by observation, experimentation, and an enduring curiosity about the natural world.
